How to Read the
Level Beast Trade Plan

Seven sections. Seven questions. Read them in order and the plan tells you whether you're on offense or defense, which level matters, and exactly what you're waiting for before you click.

📌 The One Idea That Makes Everything Click
The entire plan is built around one line — the LIS (Line in the Sand), and the Regime Line behind it. Price above the line is constructive — you're on offense. Price below the line is defensive. Every section is a different angle on the same question: where are we relative to the line, and what do we do about it?

The Four Instruments

Every morning we publish a trade plan for the broad market and for tech. To most people it looks like a wall of numbers. It isn't. It's a map. Each section answers one specific question, and once you know which question each section answers, the whole thing reads in about thirty seconds.

InstrumentWhat It IsPairs With
SPXS&P 500 cash indexES, SPY
ESS&P 500 futuresSPX, SPY
QQQNasdaq-100 ETFNQ, NDX
NQNasdaq-100 futuresQQQ, NDX
📌 Two Families, Three Forms Each

The S&P family: SPX is the cash index, ES is the futures contract, SPY is the ETF. Same market, three wrappers.

The Nasdaq family: NDX is the cash index, NQ is the futures contract, QQQ is the ETF. Same market, three wrappers.

📌 Read Them All The Same Way
The only difference between forms is the price scale. A level on ES has a matching level on SPX and SPY — the number looks different, the structure is identical. Everything in this guide applies to all of them.
💡 Build Once, Adjust Forever
The numbers in a trade plan change every day. The job of each section never changes. Learn the job, not the number — and you can read any plan we ever publish.

Dealer Posture

The Question It Answers
What kind of day is this — does the market want to pin and calm down, or extend and trend?

Dealer Posture is the weather report for the session. It's built off net gamma — whether the dealers taking the other side of options are positioned long gamma or short gamma. You read this line first, every day, because it tells you how to trade before you decide where.

Positive Regime — Dealers Long Gamma

Dealers trade against the move — selling rallies and buying dips. That pins price and mean-reverts it.

Calmer, rangier. Dips tend to get bought.

Negative Regime — Dealers Short Gamma

Dealers trade with the move — selling as it drops and buying as it rises. That makes moves extend and trend, and volatility expands.

Sharper, trendier. Rips tend to get sold.

How You Trade It
IfThe posture is positive
ThenFade extremes. Buy weakness into support, sell strength into resistance. Mean-reversion tactics work.
IfThe posture is negative
ThenRespect momentum. Don't fade a strong move, don't catch the knife. Wait for levels to hold before trusting them, and expect breaks to run.
IfIt reads "deeply negative" or mentions a VIX spike
ThenSize down. The day can move faster and further than normal.
📌 Why We Say "Regime Line"
We use plain language instead of the technical term. The point for you is simple: it tells you whether to expect fade-and-pin behavior or trend-and-extend behavior.
💡 The Constant
The wording changes daily — "mildly negative," "strongly positive," "faded to flat." The job never changes: classify the day as pin vs. trend, and set your style.
🔭

Trading Lens

The Question It Answers
Where are we opening relative to the line, and what's the one job for the session?

If Dealer Posture is the weather, Trading Lens is the game plan in one sentence. It takes the posture, adds where price is opening — above the line, below the line, or right at it — and turns that into a bias and a task.

Above

Constructive. The line is support beneath you.

Lean long. Buy pullbacks that hold the line.

Below

Defensive. The line is now a ceiling overhead.

You're in reclaim mode. Do not trust longs until price gets back above the line. Until then, rallies are suspects.

At the Line

Knife's edge. Hold it or lose it.

Coin flip until it proves a side. You wait for the first decisive break or hold, then follow it.

📌 How This Differs From Dealer Posture
Dealer Posture tells you the behavior — pin or trend. Trading Lens adds location — above or below the line — and gives you the bias and the task. Posture = how the market moves today. Lens = where we are and what we're waiting for.
💡 The Constant
The direction flips constantly. The job is always the same: convert posture plus location into a bias and a single task.
🎯

Playbook Levels

The Question It Answers
Exactly which prices do I care about, above and below, and what do I do when we get there?

This is the list of magnet levels, split into Above and Below. These are structural targets where volume is most likely to shift — checkpoints, not entries.

🛑 The Whole Philosophy, In One Line
A level is not a signal to click. It's a place to pay attention. When price arrives at a level, you watch what happens there — and that reaction is your trade, not the level itself.

The Three Tape-Reads at Every Level

Absorption

Price hits the level and stalls or holds. Buyers or sellers are absorbing.

Trade in the direction of the hold. Hold support = look long. Hold resistance = look short.

Rejection

Price hits the level and snaps back.

Fade it back toward the next level.

Acceleration

Price hits the level and rips through it.

Never fade it. Go with the break to the next level, or stand aside.

Say These Out Loud Until They're Automatic
IfWe're above the line and price pulls back into an "Above" level and holds
ThenThat's your buy-the-dip spot. Target the next level up.
IfPrice rallies into a level and rejects
ThenFade it toward the next level down.
IfPrice accelerates through a level
ThenAbandon the fade. The next level in that direction becomes the target.
📌 Why We Split Above and Below
So you always know your two ladders — your upside targets if we're strong, and your downside targets and supports if we're weak. You're never guessing what comes next. The next rung is already printed.
💡 The Constant
The numbers change every single day. Absorption, rejection and acceleration never change. Learn the three reactions and every future plan reads itself.
🪜

Key Structure

The Question It Answers
How do all these levels stack up around price right now — what's the actual roadmap?

Playbook Levels is the raw list. Key Structure is the organized map — it puts everything in order relative to where we're opening and labels the important clusters.

Playbook Levels is the pile of bricks. Key Structure is the ladder built out of them.

Decode the Vocabulary

Reclaim Ladder

The ordered set of levels overhead that price must climb back through, in sequence, to flip from defensive to constructive. Rung by rung: reclaim the first, then the next, then the Regime Line.

Line to Defend

The single most important level holding the current bias. If it breaks, the story changes.

Overhead / First Support Below

The nearest targets up and the nearest cushions down from the open.

Zones & Walls

Thicker bands — Variance Zones — and heavy strikes — Call and Put Walls — where reaction odds are highest.

How You Trade It
IfPrice is climbing the reclaim ladder in order — rung, rung, Regime Line — and holding each one
ThenThe bounce is real. You can trust longs progressively as each rung is reclaimed and held.
IfPrice loses the "line to defend"
ThenYour bias is invalidated. Flip to defense — targets shift to the support stack below.
🛑 This Is Where Your Stop Lives
Your stop belongs just beyond the line to defend. Your targets are the next named rung. Key Structure hands you both — you don't have to invent either one.
📌 How This Differs From Playbook Levels
Same levels, different job. Playbook Levels = the checklist of prices. Key Structure = the order they matter in, and the one that invalidates you. One is the parts. The other is the assembly.
💡 The Constant
The ladder gets longer or shorter and the line to defend moves. The concept — sequence plus invalidation — is permanent.
⏰

Catalyst Watch

The Question It Answers
What outside event could blow up the plan, and when?

The scheduled news — CPI, PPI, jobs report, FOMC — with the time attached. Here's why it matters: gamma structure describes how price behaves in the absence of a shock. A data release is the shock. Catalyst Watch tells you when the structure is most likely to be overridden.

📌 This Is a Risk-Timing Tool, Not an Entry Tool
Nothing in this section tells you to take a trade. It tells you when not to have one on.
How You Trade It
IfA major catalyst is coming — 8:30a CPI, 2:00p FOMC
ThenTake nothing aggressive into it. Cut size beforehand. The market often pins and coils into a big number, then expands after.
IfYou're already in a trade going into the print
ThenReduce or flatten. A data surprise can gap straight through your levels.
IfThe release has happened
ThenLet the first move settle, then trade the levels again with the new information.
⚠ What This Section Is Protecting You From
Getting run over by something you could see coming.
💡 The Constant
The events change weekly. The rule never does: identify the shock, respect the clock, don't get positioned into it.
✅

Key Takeaways

The Question It Answers
If I only had ten seconds, what are the four things I must hold in my head today?

Four numbered bullets that compress the whole plan. This is the "if you read nothing else, read this" summary — your pre-flight checklist before the open, and your reset button mid-session.

Four Bullets, Four Decisions

TakeawayWhat It Decides
The Control LineYour pivot — everything hinges on it
The RegimeYour style — pin or trend
Volatility ContextYour size — how big to go
The CatalystYour timing — what to respect and when
How You Trade It
IfIt's before the open
ThenRead all four to load your anchors for the session.
IfYou're mid-session, chopped up and confused
ThenRe-read the Key Takeaways to re-center. Where's the control line? What's the regime? Is vol calm or hot? What's the next catalyst? Answering those four gets you back on plan.
📌 How This Differs From Trading Lens
Trading Lens is your one-sentence plan. Key Takeaways is your four-bullet checklist. The Lens is the paragraph. The Takeaways are the sticky notes.
💡 The Constant
The four points get reworded daily, but they always cover the same four buckets: line, regime, vol, catalyst.
🗣️

Trader Language

The Question It Answers
If a seasoned trader sat next to me and talked me through the open, what would they say?

The plain-English paragraph that ties every other section into a single narrative — where we open, what to reclaim, where the supports are, how to behave, what to respect. Everything above it is the data. This is the story that connects it.

📌 Notice It's All If/Then
"Reclaim this, and the upside opens toward that. Hold this support, and dips get bought. Lose that line, and the downside stack comes into play." That's on purpose — it's how you should be thinking all day.
How You Trade It
IfYou've already read the numbers above
ThenRead this last, so it connects them into something you can follow live.
IfYou can restate this paragraph in your own words
ThenYou actually understand today's plan. You're ready.
IfYou can't
ThenGo back and re-read the sections until the story makes sense.
🛑 The Test
After you read it, say it back in your own words. If you can't tell the story, you're not ready to trade it.
💡 The Constant
The wording and tone shift daily, and the approach flexes with the regime. The thrust never changes: tie it all together into an if/then narrative you can follow live.
📋

The Universal If/Then Cheat Sheet

Instrument-agnostic. Works for SPX, ES, QQQ and NQ. Print it, screenshot it, keep it beside your platform.

SectionThe QuestionThe Trade Rule
Dealer Posture Pin or trend? Positive → fade and buy dips. Negative → respect momentum, size down.
Trading Lens Above or below the line? Above → lean long, buy holds. Below → reclaim mode, don't trust longs yet.
Playbook Levels Which prices? At a level: absorb → trade the hold. Reject → fade to next level. Accelerate → go with it or stand aside.
Key Structure What order, and what invalidates? Climb the reclaim ladder in sequence = trust it. Lose the line to defend = you're wrong. That's your stop.
Catalyst Watch What's the clock? Big event ahead → no aggressive size into it. Pin into the number, trade the reaction after.
Key Takeaways The four anchors? Line = pivot. Regime = style. VIX = size. Catalyst = timing. Re-read to reset.
Trader Language The story? Restate it in your own words. If you can't, you're not ready to trade it.

Your Daily Worksheet

Ten lines. Fill them in before the bell, every day, for two weeks. After that you'll do it in your head — but do it on paper first.

1
Dealer Posture: Positive / Negative / Flat → My style today is: ☐ fade & buy dips ☐ respect momentum, sell rips
2
Trading Lens: We open ☐ above the line ☐ below the line ☐ at the line → My job:
3
The line to defend today is: (if this breaks, I'm wrong)
4
My reclaim ladder (levels overhead, in order): → →
5
My support stack (levels below, in order): → →
6
When price hits a level I will watch for: ☐ absorption (hold) ☐ rejection (snap-back) ☐ acceleration (break)
7
Today's catalyst + time: → I will ☐ cut size ☐ stand aside ☐ wait for the reaction
8
My four takeaways: Line | Regime | VIX | Catalyst
9
In one sentence (my Trader Language):
10
I will NOT trade until: (the specific reaction or reclaim I'm waiting for)
💡 Line 10 Is the Most Important One
Everything above it is analysis. Line 10 is discipline. If you can't fill it in, you don't have a plan yet — you have an opinion.

3
Playbook Levels
Which prices, and how do I read the reaction?
4
Key Structure
What's the sequence, and what invalidates me?
5
Catalyst Watch
What's the clock?
6

My four-bullet checklist.
7
Trader Language
The story that ties it together.
📌 Read Them In That Order
The plan will tell you exactly whether to be on offense or defense, which level matters, and what you're waiting for before you click. The numbers change every day — the seven questions never do. Learn the questions and you can read any plan we ever publish.

What You Get Out of Reading It Correctly

✓You know within thirty seconds whether you're on offense or defense today.
✓Your stop is defined by the plan before you enter, not by feel afterward.
✓You stop fading strong moves on trend days and stop chasing on pin days.
✓You arrive at a level knowing what reaction you're waiting for.
✓You size correctly for the volatility instead of using one size for every day.
✓You never get caught holding size into a catalyst you could have seen coming.
✓You can re-center mid-session instead of drifting off plan when it gets messy.
✓You can tell the story of the day out loud — which means you actually understand it.
